  1. Rev. Chuck,

It's been true what Beth wrote about the poor weather this summer, but that's all changed. It promises to be wonderful and we leave for the Cape, (of Cod, not Good Hope), tomorrow. I'm feeling better than I have in two years, so I'm very much looking forward to it. But then I always look forward to leaving upstate New York for North Eastham, Massachusetts, or anywhere in New England for that matter. It is true summer in the Northeast US has been cold and rainy, but the Red Sox are in first place, so I'm not complaining, I'm looking forward to October. Your words and stories from Tabora and Tanzania, and about the lives of the villages and the people are remarkable and extraordinary. They are simply wonderful. Wonderful. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy them and how good they are. I know what you will say, you are doing nothing, merely obseving and recording. But I say it is the old story, you are teaching, and men learn while they teach, as I think Seneca said. I'm not sure. I forget. But I, and I think no one else will forget Africa through your eye. Thank you. Thank you very much. We are in your debt. You are the one who should have been a Correspondent for the Economist, not I. Again, thank you very much.
